
Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRT) is gearing up to celebrate its 61st anniversary.
As part of the commemorations, BRT Director Meryem Özkurt, Board Chairman Özdemir Tokel, and other board members paid a visit to President Ersin Tatar to formally invite him to the reception scheduled for December 27.
Receiving the BRT delegation on Tuesday, President Ersin Tatar emphasized the significant role BRT has played in the lives of the Turkish Cypriot people.
He congratulated all BRT employees, acknowledging their dedication and hard work under the leadership of Özkurt.
President Tatar praised BRT’s dynamic and ever-evolving structure, stating that the institution continues to amplify the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people on a global scale.
He honoured those who contributed to the establishment of BRT and reflected on its journey, highlighting the organization’s commitment to adapting to modern times.
“The spirit of the freedom fighter lives within BRT, but the world is changing. In this era, broadcast quality, content, and competitiveness have become even more critical. What matters most is making the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people heard,” said Tatar.
“As the voice of our state, BRT has been at the forefront of this effort.”
He further noted the institutional progress of the TRNC over its 41-year history, made possible through the support of Türkiye, and underscored the importance of strengthening national institutions.
President Tatar also remarked on the unity of Turkish Cypriots worldwide, stating, “No matter where they are, all Turkish Cypriots are united as one heart, always thinking of the TRNC. Ensuring their voices are heard, whether in the TRNC, Türkiye, or abroad, is of utmost importance.”
Concluding his remarks, President Tatar congratulated BRT on its 61st anniversary and wished the organization continued success in its mission to represent the TRNC on the global stage.
