As part of its 61st anniversary celebrations, Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRT) Director Meryem Özkurt and Board Chairman Özdemir Tokel visited Republic’s Assembly Speaker Ziya Öztürkler and Deputy Speaker Fazilet Özdenefe.

During the visit, held at the Assembly’s Hall of Honour, Özkurt extended an invitation to the reception scheduled for December 27.

The delegation later also paid similar visits to Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu and the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı.

Speaker Öztürkler emphasized BRT’s invaluable role for the Turkish Cypriot community, stating, “BRT has played a critical role in shaping the national spirit of the TRNC. With its efforts and the evolving digital era, it continues to amplify our voice. We stand by you, and here’s to many more successful years ahead.”

Deputy Speaker Özdenefe highlighted the importance of BRT’s digital transformation initiatives and congratulated all BRT staff for their dedication. “We are committed to supporting BRT and its personnel. I hope BRT continues to serve as the voice, eyes, and ears of the Turkish Cypriot community without compromising its commitment to diversity and democracy,” she said.

Özdenefe also praised BRT for its coverage of the İsias court case, calling it “a significant service for the public.” Özdenefe further invited the public to participate in the “Champion Angels” march in Gazimağusa.

In addition to the Assembly visit, Özkurt and Tokel also called on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, and Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı, extending invitations to the upcoming reception.

Deputy Prime Minister Ataoğlu underscored the significance of unity during BRT’s anniversary, stating, “We will mark this milestone together, strengthening our solidarity.” Minister Arıklı expressed his honor in attending BRT’s events and highlighted the unique value of the BRT Broadcasting History Museum.

Later in the afternoon the delegation visited Prime Minister Ünal Üstel to personally invite him to the event.

During the visit, Prime Minister Üstel praised BRT’s pivotal role in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and its historic struggle. “BRT plays a vital role in conveying all events happening in the TRNC to the world. This is a source of great pride and honor for us,” Üstel said.

The reception commemorating BRT’s 61st anniversary will take place on Friday, December 27, bringing together leaders and community members to celebrate the institution’s legacy and contributions to the TRNC.
