Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRT) has once again demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by becoming the main media sponsor for the “I Love You, I Am Your Voice” project, initiated by the Cyprus Hearing and Speech Impaired Foundation (KİKEV).

KİKEV representatives visited BRT Director Meryem Özkurt today to express their gratitude for the institution’s support.

Highlighting BRT’s 2024 motto, “Overcoming Barriers,” Özkurt affirmed that they would continue to support KİKEV’s efforts to uphold the communication rights of individuals with hearing impairments.

The “I Love You, I Am Your Voice” project is part of KİKEV’s broader initiative, the Sustainable Education and Social Awareness Support Project.

Under this partnership, BRT has produced 16 educational videos that will air starting January 5.

These videos will also be utilized in schools as educational materials.

During the visit, Özkurt emphasized BRT’s ongoing dedication to breaking barriers: “Through the videos and the collaboration we’ve established with KİKEV, we are contributing to overcoming barriers. Thank you for including us in this meaningful project. Supporting your fight for communication rights is not only our responsibility but our privilege.”

Bahire Coşkuner Doğru, Chairperson of KİKEV’s Board of Trustees, expressed gratitude to Özkurt and her team for their unwavering support over the years: “Our struggle has always been human- and society-centered. BRT has stood by us from the beginning, supporting our efforts to provide barrier-free news bulletins to the community. We are thrilled to launch the ‘I Love You, I Am Your Voice’ project, which allows us to share our knowledge about communication with society while ensuring its sustainability.”

Doğru also noted that under the patronage of the Presidency and with the support of First Lady Sibel Tatar, the Near East University Social Research and Development Center, and other contributors, the project will soon deliver Turkish Sign Language videos to the public.

In a heartfelt moment, KİKEV members expressed their gratitude in sign language, presenting a plaque to BRT Director Meryem Özkurt and certificates of appreciation to BRT staff who contributed to the project.
