Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRTK) marked another milestone with the launch of its new broadcasting season under the slogan “Overcoming Barriers.” The event, held in the courtyard of the corporation, saw a broad turnout, including President Ersin Tatar, BRTK Director Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt, BRTK Board Chairman Salih Can Doratlı, and representatives from the Champion Angels’ Foundation.
During the opening remarks, reference was made to the “3 Minutes of Darkness for Justice” action organized by the Champion Angels’ Foundation.
As a symbolic gesture of support, BRTK turned off its lights for three minutes at 8:00 PM. Ruşen Karakaya, the foundation’s president, spoke about the significance of this action and referenced the ongoing legal process related to their cause.
Speaking at the event, President Ersin Tatar underscored the importance of BRTK and the need to strengthen the institution under its leadership. He also touched upon the ongoing legal process involving the Champion Angels, a group that symbolizes the collective grief over the loss experienced during the earthquake.
Tatar mentioned the upcoming court date on the 22nd, expressing hope for a positive outcome, and emphasized the unity behind the “Isias” case, reaffirming the government’s support for the families affected.
Tatar extended his best wishes to BRT for its new broadcasting season, expressing confidence in its continued contribution to the community.
The launch event also featured an exhibition match involving the Vakıflar Wheelchair Basketball Team, along with teams from Fenerbahçe and İskenderun.
The match showcased the spirit of inclusion and determination. The audience was also treated to a musical performance by The Native Cypriot, a beloved local band known for its repertoire of Cypriot melodies.
In addition, four teams from the Turkish Wheelchair Basketball Super League are set to compete in the Mustafa Çelik Memorial Tournament.
The opening match between Vakıflar and Fenerbahçe took place this morning at the Atatürk Sports Hall and was broadcast live on BRT 2.
The tournament’s final match is scheduled for Saturday, October 19th, at 5:30 PM, and will also be aired live on BRT 2.
As part of a collaboration agreement between BRTK and the Disabled Sports Federation, all matches of the Vakıflar Wheelchair Basketball Team played in Lefkoşa will be broadcast live throughout the season on BRT.
