The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation Özdemir Tokel emphasized that their main goal is to add a strong future to the deep-rooted past of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation, which takes its name from our flags flying in the sky.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bayrak Radio Television Corporation Özdemir Tokel issued a message to mark the 61st anniversary of the establishment of BRTK.

In his message, Tokel said that Bayrak Radio Television Corporation is the voice of the Turkish Cypriot People, which has become the voice of the struggle for existence echoing on the island and in the world that started on December 25, 1963 from the garage of the former Vice Presidency Building, which is now used as the Presidential Palace, with the announcement “Bayrak, Bayrak, Bayrak. This is the Voice of the Turkish Cypriot Mujahids”, is 61 years old today.

“This exceptional institution, which takes its name from our flags flying in the sky, has continued to be the flag bearer of the Turkish Cypriot identity, culture and all the values that make us who we are, depending on the mission imposed on it by history with its 61 years of deep-rooted and strong history,” said Tokel.

He emphasized that as the Board of Directors of BRTK, their main goal is to add a strong future to this deep-rooted past.

He stated that in line with this goal, they will take the necessary steps to realize the legal, structural and technological transformation of the institution, to announce the voice of the people to the world through all channels in the new communication eco-system with reliable, fast and original content and to become an effective broadcasting source.

“Because we know; It is imperative to catch up with the age and take our strong place in the new media in order to defend the national, social and cultural values of the Turkish Cypriot People, the rights and interests of our nation, to ensure that the public has access to accurate and reliable news, to protect the public against disinformation and manipulations, and to make the voice of our state and nation heard strongly to the world. We are faithful, determined and full of hope” said Tokel.

He said by always keeping the mission of being the essence, eyes, voice, word and power of the Turkish Cypriot People in the media, we should never forget that it represents the state and the people, never compromising on common national, cultural and social values, creating an agenda, creating an impact, not a reaction.

Noting that they will carry BRT, which both monitors the agenda and sets the agenda, whose eyes are turned towards its people and face towards the world, whose voice and word are heard everywhere and on every platform, who respects and is respected, whose doors are open to the public, to a strong future together, Tokel said, “On this occasion, on behalf of myself and our Board of Directors, I would like to once again congratulate the 61st anniversary of the establishment of our institution, convey our feelings of gratitude to everyone who has worked for the institution in its 61-year history, bow with respect in front of the cherished memories of those who have passed away, and present my deepest respect to all the press workers and managers of BRT”.
