During the visits BRTK Director Meryem Özkurt invited the state and government officials to the Symposium on Public Broadcasting in the “Post-Truth Era” to be held on Friday, December 22 and to the reception to be held at the BRTK Broadcasting History Museum on Monday, December 25.

Speaking during the visits, Özkurt stated that teams from the Turkish Public Broadcaster TRT, Türkiye’s Radio and Television Supreme Council RTÜK, Anadolu Agency AA and Turkish News Channel NTV will be delivering presentations at the symposium and presented invitations to the symposium and reception.

Speaking during the visit paid to him, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre pointed to the importance of BRTK and congratulated everyone who served at the corporation.

He said that it was a privilege to be working at Bayrak Radio Television Corporation and added that the spirit in which the corporation was established should not be diminished.

“We congratulate you. We should never forget that you are the voice of the mujahids. The BRTK, whose activities and broadcasts we always follow, is cherished by us” said Töre.

During their visit to the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, he referred to the first announcement made on BRTK which was “Bayrak, Bayrak, Bayrak” meaning flag, to the Turkish Cypriots and said “Since that day, BRTK has been indispensable for us all”.

“BRTK is the flag of the ongoing national struggle of the Turkish Cypriots. The services you provide under the roof of BRTK for our Cyprus cause, which we look at not as an issue but as a national cause, are valuable” said Feyzioğlu.

“For us, it is also a part of our national cause to support these services and to realize whatever we can do in line with your demands in consultation. I sincerely say that the TRNC will remain forever and I wish you many more 60 years” said Feyzioğlu.

Doratlı and Özkurt were then received by President Ersin Tatar.

Speaking during the visit President Tatar reminded that many valuable names contributed to the establishment of BRTK and congratulated all employees.

Stating that BRTK has made the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people heard, Tatar said that beyond satellite broadcasts, the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people has reached all over the world through internet broadcasting.

“BRTK is making our voice heard everywhere. Private channels and private radio stations continue their activities to serve the country, but the status and value of state television and radio is completely different” said Tatar.

Emphasizing that it is also important to protect these frequencies in order not to cause frequency confusion with the broadcasts in South Cyprus, the President stated that importance should be given to the protection of frequencies and digital broadcasting.

He also pointed to the importance of protecting the national archives and carry it to the future.

“Our national politics is based on our past and our struggle” said Tatar.
