Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Armağan Candan attended the meeting of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) Culture, Science, Education and Media Committee held in Rome.
According to the statement issued by the Parliament, Candan also delivered a speech at the meeting held in the Italian Parliament.
In his speech, Candan talked about the work of the two communities on the island within the scope of the protection of cultural heritage in Cyprus.
He reminded that there are many historical monuments on the island such as the the old walls in Lefkoşa dating back to the Venetian period in Cyprus and that they were ready to work in partnership with Italy to carry out preservation work so as to pass on cultural heritage to future generations.
According to the statement made by the Parliament, during his speech, Italian Parliamentry Speaker Roberto Fico, Italian Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini and PACE President Tiny Kox, as well as parliamentarians from 46 different countries were present in the hall.
In addition to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly meetings, Armağan Candan also visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Rome Representative Office and met with Representative Mustafa Davulcu.
Candan is expected to return to the TRNC tomorrow after completing his contacts.
