Candidates running in the upcoming by-elections on June 25 submitted their applications to the High Electoral Council on Wednesday in line with the election calendar announced by the country’s election authority.
The Republican Turkish Party’s (CTP) candidate Sami Özuslu, the National Unity Party’s (UBP) candidate Ali Başman, the Democrat Party’s (DP) candidate Serhan Aktunç, the Social Democratic Party’s (TDP) candidate Tacan Reynar and the Rebirth Party’s (YDP) candidate Figen Yaman Lesinger submitted their candidacy applications to the High Electoral Council on Wednesday morning.
The remaining five candidates, Independence Movement candidate Umut Ersoy, independent candidates Abdullah Korkmazhan, Meriç Erülkü, Çetin Sadeli and Talip Sancar also submitted their applications during working hours.
While the provisional list of candidates will be announced on Thursday, the final list will be announced on Sunday, June 4.
The official propaganda period for candidates will begin on Monday, June 5 and end on June 24, a day before the elections.
Elections will also be held on June 25 to choose the post of one mukhtar and 50 elders vacated for various reasons.
