According to the statement made by the Press Office of the Ministry of National Education, the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu expressed concern over the racist and fascist propaganda being spread in educational institutions in South Cyprus.
He denounced the celebration of the founding of the EOKA terrorist organization in some schools, where students were dressed in t-shirts with the image of Grivas, the organization’s leader.
Additionally, he raised alarm over another Greek Cypriot school where students were seen giving a Nazi salute under the guidance of a teacher.
Çavuşoğlu criticized the decision in Greece to celebrate EOKA’s anniversary in schools, as it shows that there has been no change in the Greek-Greek Cypriot mentality on Cyprus. …
He emphasized that teaching young generations about a violent organization would incite violence and ethnic hatred and called for a more balanced education based on historical records and empathy.
He strongly condemned the racist and fascist propaganda in schools in South Cyprus and urged the Greek Cypriot leadership to reject such approaches and instead promote coexistence and mutual understanding.
