The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Nazım Çavuşoğlu who is in the Turkish capital Ankara was received by the Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay on Thursday.
The two discussed steps to be taken to mitigate the problems being experienced by farmers in the TRNC as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They also exchanged views on the use of water from Turkey for agricultural purposes, acquiring wheat, barley and animal feed as well as sending 350 tons of excess raw milk to Turkey.
Earlier on Wednesday, Minister Çavuşoğlu came together with his Turkish counterpart Bekir Pakdemirli.
According to a statement issued by the Agriculture Ministry, the two ministers discussed activities carried out by the TRNC Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources and areas of cooperation between their two ministries.
An agreement was reached to further expand cooperation and joint projects carried out between the two ministries, particularly in the areas of irrigation and drinking water.
It was also decided to deploy an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to be used for early detection of forest fires in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The two ministries also took a decision to cooperate on food safety and to establish committees for water management and the water master plan.
