The Spokesman for Türkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AKP) Ömer Çelik made a statement on the Cyprus issue during a meeting of his party, chaired by President of Türkiye and party leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Çelik stressed that any approach that treats the Turkish Cypriots as a minority will not be accepted by the Republic of Türkiye.

Stating that this issue will be brought up at the NATO summit in July, he stressed that in order for any negotiations to emerge, the sovereignty and equality of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus must be ensured.
