Ceremonies held in TRNC to mark 85th anniversary of Atatürk’s death

A number of ceremonies were held this morning (on Friday) to mark the 85th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern day Türkiye.

Sirens went off at exactly 9:05 marking the time of the death of the most revered figure in modern Turkish history.

Separate ceremonies were held throughout all districts.

The 85th anniversary of the death of the great Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was marked with two separate ceremonies in the capital Lefkoşa.

The first ceremony was held at the Atatürk Monument.

Wreaths were placed, a minutes silence was observed and flags were lowered to half mast followed by the reciting of the national anthem.

The day’s second remembrance ceremony was realised at the Atatürk Culture Centre.
