The epic Erenköy Resistance, marking its 60th anniversary this year, and the Erenköy martyrs will be commemorated with a ceremony at the Erenköy Martyrs’ Cemetery on Thursday.
According to a statement from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Public Information Office, the ceremony will begin at 10am with the laying of wreaths at the monument in accordance with the protocol.
After a moment of silence, a salute of respect, and the raising of the flags with the national anthem, the Martyrdom Special Book will be signed.
The President of the Erenköy Fighters Association Mustafa Arıkan, the Mayor of Erenköy-Karpaz Hamit Bakırcı, and President Ersin Tatar will deliver a speech at the ceremony.
The ceremony will end with a tour of the cemetery, the laying of flowers on the graves of the martyrs, and prayers recited at the gravesides.
