Prime Minister Ünal Üstel received on Wednesday members of the Champion Angels Society headed by Ruşen Yücesoylu Karakaya.

Speaking during the visit, Karakaya said that the society’s priority was to follow the judicial process in Türkiye closely.

She underlined that it was extremely important for the public, the government and the state to give their full support to them during this difficult process.

Karakaya added that the society’s second priority was to keep the memory of their children alive through the construction of schools, a monument and a sports hall.

“We have already hired someone to draft up plans for a school project deserving of the memory of the champions angels. We have no doubt the government will be providing them with the support and help they require,” she said.

Karakaya also thanked the authorities and the government for its assistance throughout the whole process.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel for his part said that they discussed the judicial process in Türkiye concerning the owners and contractors of the hotel as well as the construction of a middle school and high school, a monument, a special cemetery and a sports hall in memory of the children.

“The families have requested land for the construction of the schools. We have done better. I have proposed that the money to be cut from salaries be channelled entirely to the construction of the two school projects.

He said that the process to pass the legislation that will make this possible will be expedited.

Üstel also said that the government already had several other projects in mind in memory of the children such as a monument, a special memorial cemetery and a sports hall.
