The recently appointed Chief of Police Kasım Kuni and his Deputy Ahmet Beşerler are carrying out courtesy visits to state and government officials after assuming their new posts.

Within this framework the two men visited, President Ersin Tatar, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel respectively on Thursday.

President Ersin Tatar received the newly appointed Chief of Police Kasım Kuni and his accompanying delegation.

Speaking during the visit, the President wished Kuni success during his new post, stating that the public’s safety and security as well as the preservation of law and order were their top priority.

Also receiving the two, Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre pointed to the importance of peace and security, adding that therefore a great duty and responsibility fell upon the police force.

He also stated that the police played an important role in bringing the Turkish Cypriot people to where they are today.

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel also received the chief of Police.

Speaking during the visit, Üstel said that while the police force is performing its duty for the security of the country, the government was working to strengthen the police force and addressing its deficiencies.

Chief of Police Kasım Kuni for his part said that as the police force they will continue to protect and serve the public and property.
