The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) continues to assist Türkiye in its efforts to recover from last week’s devastating earthquake in the country’s south which has left over 30,000 people dead and hundreds of thousands of people injured or homeless.
Teams from the TRNC Civil Defence Organisation were among the first to be on the ground to assist in rescue and recovery operations in Adıyaman, primarily at the İsias Hotel where a secondary school volleyball team from the Gazimağusa Türk Maarif College were staying.
Since then the teams have been working to recover those trapped under the rubble.
A 24 member squad returned to the island Tuesday morning while a team of ten will remain in Türkiye to continue to assist efforts.
