The Republican Turkish Party’s (CTP) Ecology and Environment Committee hosted a workshop titled “Water Problem and Solution Proposals under the Impact of Climate Change”.

During the opening of the workshop, CTP leader Tufan Erhürman emphasized the need for short, medium, and long-term plans to address the water problem in the country.

Erhürman noted that the effects of climate change vary among countries and warned that the damage caused will be much greater than what has already been done.

He stressed the importance of basing adaptation strategies on scientific evidence and the necessity of transforming data into actionable plans.

Erhürman also highlighted the lack of a comprehensive vision and emphasized the importance of prioritizing science in society’s agenda.

Environmental Engineer Nilden Bektaş Erhürman, speaking on behalf of the Ecology and Environment Committee, warned that although the impact of climate change on Cyprus is relatively small compared to industrialized countries, the consequences will be devastating and emphasized the need to strengthen legal, administrative, political and technical infrastructure and to prepare cities accordingly to combat climate change.
