Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and his wife Zerrin Üstel inaugrated the 25th traditional painting exhibition titled “Colours in the Women’s World” organized by the Girne Özgürada Lions Club at the Lefkoşa İsmet Vehit Güney Exhibition Hall.

Delivering a short speech at the opening ceremony Prime Minister Ünal Üstel’s wife Zerrin Üstel said that women are one of the basic building blocks of humanity and that they play important roles in every aspect of society.

“However, it has not been easy for women to take their rightful place in society throughout history. Gender inequality and discrimination still persist in society. Women still have to struggle against the obstacles they face in areas such as economy, education, employment and leadership. That is why we continue and will continue to struggle”, said Üstel.

At the end of her speech, Zerrin Üstel wished everyone a happy March 8 Women’s Day and thanked everyone who contributed to the exhibition.

The exhibition consists of 68 paintings by 31 women artists.

The exhibition can be visited until Friday, March 8.
