The Turkish Minister for Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum has announced that the construction of 13,866 houses in the provinces affected by the earthquakes has begun.

The Turkish Minister for Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum stated that 1 million 728 thousand buildings had been inspected in the Kahramanmaraş centred provinces affected by the earthquakes that took place on February 6, and that 227 thousand 27 buildings were either severely damaged, or were ready to be immediately demolished.

Making a statement at the Kahramanmaraş Projects Area Coordination meeting in Kahramanmaraş, Minister Kurum announced that they will be starting the construction process of a total of 309,000 homes, 244,343 of those being residences in all of the 11 provinces in the next two months.”

Stating that they were doing all they could to carry out search and rescue efforts, humanitarian aid, temporary and permanent shelter areas simultaneously in the earthquake hit regions, Kurum said that around 7000 personnel are working in the earthquake affected areas.
