A cooperation protocol on “Archive specialist exchange and digitization” was signed on Wednesday between the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye State Archives Directorate and the TRNC National Archives.

According to a written statement issued by the Turkish Presidency, the protocol was signed by Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal, the President of the Republic of Türkiye State Archives, and Ejdan Sadrazam, the Director of the TRNC National Archives.

Before the protocol signing ceremony, President Ersin Tatar received Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal.

Speaking during the meeting, President Ersin Tatar expressed that despite incidents such as fires, wars, and natural disasters, the TRNC’s archives had survived to the present day.

Tatar emphasized the importance of preserving and carrying archives into the future, highlighting the significance of benefiting from Türkiye’s extensive experience and collaborating.

Prof. Dr. Uğur Ünal for his part explained that joint activities were being carried out with the TRNC National Archives under the auspices of the Turkish Presidency and with the support of the Turkish Embassy to Lefkoşa.
