88 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the TRNC on Wednesday, 72 of which were through local transmission, following 8,251 diagnostic tests carried out in the last 24 hours.
16 people were already quarantined for having come into close contact with positive cases and the other 72 cases were through local transmission, the health ministry announced.
It also announced that 28 of the cases were from Lefkoşa, 27 from Gazimağusa, 16 from Girne and one case from Güzelyurt.
28 people that were receiving treatment at hospital or quarantine facilities were discharged and sent home.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 updates from South Cyprus report that 529 people tested positive on Wednesday and two people lost their fight against the virus.
South Cyprus reports that positive case numbers have reached 49,366 since the outbreak.
