On Tuesday, the Statistics Institute announced that the cost of living rose by 3.22% in October.

The data indicates a substantial increase compared to previous periods, with a 50.45% rise since December of last year and a 65.65% increase compared to October of the previous year.

Among main spending categories, clothing and footwear experienced the highest monthly increase, soaring by 22.73% compared to the previous month.

Of the 465 items tracked, 336 saw price increases, while 129 registered prices dropped.

The top three items with the most significant price hikes included state hospital bed fees (up 240%), diabetes medications (up 101.3%), and national lottery tickets (up 60%).

In contrast, the items with the highest price decreases were pomegranate (down 50.31%), lemon (down 47.38%), and white cabbage (down 41.48%).
