COVID-19 updates: TRNC 410 new cases, S. Cyprus 1,813 new cases

The vaccination program for children aged between 5 and 11 will begin today.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus received the specially produced vaccines for the 5-11 age groups last week.

According to a statement made by the Health Ministry children between the ages of 5-11 who have chronic illnesses and those between 10 and 11 years old will be vaccinated first.

Children can receive their jabs at the Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital’s Pediatric Outpatients Clinic between 2pm and 6pm, at the Mağusa State Hospital’s Paediatric Immunization Unit between 9am and 2pm, Girne Akçiçek Hospital’s Paediatric Immunization Unit between 9am and 2pm and at the Cengiz Topel Hospital’s Paediatric Immunisation Unit between 9am and 2pm.

The Ministry also reminded that adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 could receive their booster shots at vaccination centres affiliated with the ministry.

The reminder shots of 12 to 18 year old age groups should be carried out 3 months after their last dose.

Also the Health Ministry announced 410 new cases of coronavirus after conducting 14,397 tests on Sunday. 2 deaths and 556 recoveries were also reported.

According to the Health Ministry 179 of the cases are from the Lefkoşa District, 95 from the Girne District, 71 from the Gazimağusa District, 28 from the Güzelyurt District, 15 from the İskele District and 22 from the Lefke District.

Meanwhile, South Cyprus reported three deaths and 1,813 new cases on Sunday.
