The General Secretary of the main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Asım Akansoy evaluated the topics on the countries agenda.

He said that they expected movement on the Cyprus problem in the near future.

Akansoy also noted that measures should be taken against the economic problems in the country.

According to the statement made by the CTP, Akansoy stated that Türkiye’s recent demand for the resumption of the process of accession to the European Union will also affect the process in Cyprus and said that the way to rebuild relations with the West is to return to the realistic grounds on the Cyprus problem.

Claiming that the new thesis on Cyprus was not accepted in the world, Akansoy said, “If you want a solution, you should not adopt a separatist attitude. What needs to be done is to start negotiations within the framework drawn by the UN.”
