Cyprus discussed at Turkish Grand National Assembly

Türkiye’s Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, pointing to the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation said, “If it were not for the Peace Operation, maybe we would have seen the scenes we see in Gaza today in Cyprus.”

The Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz was answerinh questions and criticisms of the deputies during the 2024 Central Government Budget Law Proposal at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

During his speech, Yılmaz said that as a strong Republic of Türkiye, they will be the hope of the oppressed and one of the cornerstones of a just world with the progress they will make in the Turkish Century.

Referring to the Cyprus Peace Operation, Yılmaz said that “If those interventions had not been made in Cyprus during that time and if the Peace Operation had not taken place, maybe we would have seen the scenes we see in Gaza today in Cyprus as they are the same events, they are not any different”.

He also took the opportunity to commemorate the late Ecevit and Erbakan who played important roles during the Cyprus peace operation.
