Cyprus issue, investments and development discussed

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with President Ersin Tatar at an office at Dolmabahçe, Istanbul.

The Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel were also present at the meeting.

Prime Minister Üstel made a statement regarding the meeting.

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s support for the Cyprus policy we are pursuing has been confirmed once again,” said Üstel adding that the meeting had taken place upon their request.

Noting that the developments regarding the Cyprus issue as well as the new investments to be made to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the fields of energy, health, transportation and education carried out by the government were discussed, Prime Minister Üstel said, “As the head of the government, I also had the opportunity to put forward our views.”

Prime Minister Üstel emphasized that the determined stance on the two-state solution model was once again underlined at the meeting and the support of Türkiye and Türkiye’s President Erdoğan for the ongoing Cyprus policy was once again confirmed.

“I am very happy to see the full and sincere support of the government of Türkiye for the completion of the investments to be made in other fields such as health, tourism, education and transportation, which are deemed necessary for the development of the TRNC, the arrival of electricity from Türkiye via cable and the transition to the interconnected system. It is extremely important to guarantee the energy future of the TRNC with the second most important project of the century, which will be launched after the feasibility studies of the project to bring electricity by cable are completed in April or May.”

He also noted that they returned from Istanbul with the hope that the year 2024 will be much better.

Üstel thanked Turkish President Erdoğan and Turkish Vice President Yılmaz for their hospitality and close attention.
