A “Cyprus Peace Operation Park” was inaugurated in Ankara to mark the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

President Ersin Tatar, who attended the opening, stressed, “We will continue on our path with strength; no one should doubt that.”

During his visit to Ankara, President Ersin Tatar participated in the opening ceremony of the park, organized by Keçiören Municipality, and stated that naming the park as “Cyprus Peace Operation Park” was meaningful and valuable.

Noting that July 20, 1974, was a turning point for the Turkish Cypriot people in their struggle for independence and freedom, marking the drawing of the borders of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the President stressed that this date played a crucial role in their struggle for existence, geopolitical and geostrategic developments, and in defending the rightful interests of both the TRNC and Türkiye.

Tatar added that the TRNC would continue to grow stronger and that the two-state policy they represent was significant.

“Our survival, our ideal, our cause is to eternally sustain the TRNC, an independent Turkish state in the Eastern Mediterranean, alongside our motherland Türkiye” he said.

The Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, Mansur Yavaş, also stressed the importance of the park in conveying and reminding future generations of the epic struggle.

Pointing out how significant it was to have achieved this operation despite the limited resources at the time, Yavaş noted that as a result of this operation, the people of the TRNC now live a comfortable life.

He also expressed his hope that in the future, the TRNC would become completely free, independent, and internationally recognized.

For his part, Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan expressed the hope that the freedom struggle of the people of the TRNC would continue forever.

Describing this special day as a reflection of a glorious history and a symbol that would eternally keep alive the fight for independence, Özarslan stated that this park would remain as a symbol of the epic struggle.
