
The archive documents of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Ankara, which operated between 1960 and 1976, have been transferred to the National Archives and Research Department of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The documents contain correspondence between the Cyprus Republic Embassy in Ankara and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1961 to 1975.
The Director of the National Archives and Research Department, Ejdan Sadrazam, announced that 69 folders containing correspondence in Turkish, English, and French from 1961 to 1975 between the Cyprus Republic Embassy in Ankara and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been made available to the public at the National Archives.
Sadrazam stated that the archive documents of the Cyprus Republic Embassy in Ankara, which operated between 1960 and 1976, were acquired from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs following a request by the National Archives and Research Department and through the efforts of TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu and TRNC Ambassador to Ankara İsmet Korukoğlu.
He said the documents had now been opened for public access after the necessary classification and documentation processes.
Sadrazam also added that the public could access the archive documents of the Cyprus Republic Embassy in Ankara under the rules of the “Regulation on the Protection, Evaluation, Classification, Research, and Archival Techniques of Archival Materials.”
