Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu highlighted the essential role of a free, independent, and impartial press in democratic societies in a message released for 11 July Press Day.
Acknowledging the irreplaceable role of the press in expressing diverse opinions and enlightening society in political, economic, social, and cultural spheres, Ataoğlu stated:
“As we celebrate 11 July Press Day, I want to emphasize once again the significant role you, esteemed members of the press, play in promoting our country and its cultural richness. You are crucial in providing our people with accurate and impartial information, promoting our country’s tourism potential, and preserving our cultural heritage.”
Ataoğlu stressed that the ability of the press to operate freely, independently, and impartially is one of the most vital components of democratic societies.
He assured that with this understanding, the government is always committed to improving the working conditions and protecting the rights of media professionals.
