The Chairman of the National Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mahmut Özer and his accompanying delegation were received by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu.
Speaking during the visit the Commission Chairman Mahmut Özer said that he was very proud of the struggle waged by the Turkish Cypriot people who have fought to bring their rightful cause to the level that it deserves.
He stated that Türkiye will always continue to support the Turkish Cypriot people so that they can continue to improve their living standards.
“Ensuring cultural unity among young people will strengthen the ties in the sustainability of relations” said Özer.
Deputy Prime Minister Ataoğlu for his part noted that the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation will be celebrated in the coming days and added that with the support of Türkiye, they act in unity and solidarity.
Pointing to the developments that have taken place just recently, Ataoğlu said that the Greek Cypriot side has been trying to negatively affect the developing sectors in the TRNC and condemned the attempts by the Greek Cypriot side to prevent investments in the country.
“We are a Republic here. As long as we are together with Türkiye, we will continue to walk on our own path with a firm stance” said Ataoğlu.
meanwhile upon the delegation’s arrival to the TRNC, Mahmut Özer, Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Commission, and the accompanying delegation visited the mausoleums of Dr. Fazıl Küçük, the Leader of the Turkish Cypriot People’s struggle for existence and freedom and Founding President Rauf Denktaş.
Within the framework of his three-day visit, Özer and the accompanying delegation will visit the Turkish Maarif Foundation-Samtay Foundation Suna Ata Atun Primary School, Eastern Mediterranean University and fenced-off town in Gazimağusa.
tTe delegation, which is expected to be received by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel on Thursday, the last day of the visit, will also be received by Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu.
