Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu stated that the concept of museum studies should be started from a young age and stated that this year’s Museums Week activities will be aimed at primary school students.

In his message, Ataoğlu stated that 18-24 May has been declared as Museums Week in the TRNC since 1986, and in this context, various activities are held under the leadership of the Department of Antiquities and Museums every year.

Reminding that the historic Vasıf Palace building in Lefke District had been restored and turned into the Lefke Mining Museum, Ataoğlu said that it was their aim to increase tourist flow to the region.

He said the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) with its thousands of years of history is home to many cultural assets and there are many museums that shed light on the history and build bridges between the past and the future.

Noting that they have accelerated work at museums, Ataoğlu said that they are doing their best to attract more tourists to the country.
