Under the auspices of the Presidency, a dinner was organized in honour of the heads and delegations of the Türkiye- Azerbaijan-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups.

Delivering a speech during the dinner President Ersin Tatar said, “Our struggle has been further reinforced with the presence of Azerbaijan.”

A dinner was hosted in honour of the visiting Türkiye-Azerbaijan-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Friendship groups under the auspices of the Presidency.

President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu and MPs from all 3 countries attended the dinner.

Delivering a speech during the dinner President Ersin Tatar emphasized that the inter-parliamentary friendship groups established at the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will contribute to the development of ties between the countries.

He noted that the support provided by Azerbaijan contributed to the ongoing struggle of the Turkish Cypriots.

Explaining that the Greek Cypriot side exhibited a ruthless policy against the Turkish Cypriots and embargoes were applied, President Tatar said, “Despite all these, we will continue with our policy. We will never give up. With the presence of Azerbaijan, our struggle has been further reinforced.”

Referring to Haydar Aliyev’s statements emphasizing the importance of the Caucasus, Anatolia and the Eastern Mediterranean, Tatar noted that it is a national duty to protect the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) until the very end.

The Chairman of the Azerbaijan-TRNC Inter-Parliamentary Working Group Javanshir Feyziyev for his part said, “It is the injustices done to the Turkish Cypriots that brought us here.”

Expressing his firm belief that the TRNC will be recognized, Feyziyev noted that Azerbaijan, which gained its independence 30 years ago, achieved success after its struggles over Karabakh.

Pointing out that power sometimes comes before justice; Feyziyev said “We must unite to be strong. The Turkic World must be united to eliminate problems. President Erdoğan of Türkiye and President Aliyev of Azerbaijan are making great efforts in this regard. We all have great duties to fulfil.”
