The Economy, Finance, Budget, and Planning Committee of the Republic’s Assembly began discussions on the 2025 Central Government Budget Bill, which is projected at ₺136.28bn.

The discussions are expected to conclude by November 28.

The meeting, which started at 10am with an opening speech by Resmiye Eroğlu Canaltay, the Chair of the Committee and UBP MP, included a presentation on the budget by Finance Minister Özdemir Berova.

Following the presentations, the committee will review the budgets for the Presidency, the Republic’s Assembly, the Court of Accounts, the Judiciary, and the Legal Department.

The committee will review the budget bills for the Prime Ministry and Deputy Prime Ministry on Wednesday, November 20, Ministries of Public Works and Transportation, National Education, and the Public Service Commission on Thursday, November 21 and Police, Ombudsman, Ministries of Economy and Energy, and Interior Affairs on Friday, November 22.

The committee will resume its work on Tuesday, November 26, to review the budgets for the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces (GKK), the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Ministry of Health.

On Wednesday, November 27, the committee will review the budgets for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Civil Defence Organization, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and on Thursday, November 28, it will examine the budgets for the Ministry of Finance and Revenues.

On the same day, Thursday, November 28, the committee will review and vote on the entire 2025 Central Government Budget Bill.

The budgets of institutions and organizations affiliated with the ministries will also be discussed on the same day as the respective ministry’s budget.
