Donation to the Police Force

The Turkish General Directorate of Security has donated tools, equipment and materials to the Police Special Operations Directorate.

Speaking during the ceremony the Acting Director General of the Police Force Kasım Kuni said police having professional technical equipment kept them one step ahead in the fight against crime.

Vehicles and equipment were donated to the General Directorate of Police by the Republic of Türkiye General Directorate of Security.

A ceremony was organized at the grounds of the Police General Directorate where the donated vehicles and equipment were handed over.

The Türkiye and TRNC Cooperation Action Protocol was prepared in order to modernize the Police General Directorate so that it can compete with today’s conditions.

Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu, Security Forces Commander Major General Zorlu Topaloğlu and Acting Director General of Police Kasım Kuni attended the ceremony.

The Head of Special Operations of the General Directorate of Security of Türkiye Selami Türker said that there was extensive cooperation with the TRNC in all fields.

“As the Special Operations Presidency, since 2001 until today we have carried out training activities in 15 different fields. I would like to emphasize that we are ready to work together in cooperation and harmony, as in the past” said Türker.

Acting Director General of Police Kasım Kuni for his part said that having up to date technical equipment in the police force will always keep the police force one step ahead in the fight against crime.

Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu for his part said that a strong police force is necessary for the protection of the fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens.

“A strong police organization is not something to be offended by or to criticize. On the contrary, it is necessary for people to live in peace and security. As Türkiye, we are in perfect cooperation with the TRNC in every field, and we will do our part to strengthen the police force here” said Feyzioğlu.
