The junior coalition partners, the Democrat Party (DP) and the Rebirth Party (YDP) also evaluated the results of Sunday’s by-election.
The leader of the Democrat Party and the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu and the leader of the Rebirth Party (YDP) and the Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı told BRT they will be assessing the results of the election carefully in the coming days.
Evaluating the results, the Leader of the Democrat Party and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu said that both the party and the government should make it a priority to look into why turnout was so low.
Stating that they had initiated work in this regard, he said that the election results will be evaluated in the upper bodies in the coming days.
Ataoğlu also wished success to Sami Özuslu and stated that the necessary collaborative work will be carried out in parliament.
Also evaluating the election results to BRT, the leader of the Rebirth Party and the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arıklı, reminded that the outcome of the election had no impact on parliament’s arithmetic or would affect the country’s politics.
Arıklı stressed that the fact that the Republican Turkish Party now had 19 seats in parliament will not change anything.
He said that the total votes received by the candidates of the three coalition partners had still surpassed the CTP’s canidate.
