Education Ministry-TÜBİTAK sign protocol

The Ministry of National Education has signed a protocol with TÜBİTAK, also known as the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye, to support the projects in the field of science and technology of the universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Education Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu who signed the protocol with TÜBİTAK’s President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal in Ankara, emphasized that the protocol is a significant step taken on behalf of the country.

Speaking during the ceremony in Lefkoşa, Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that this protocol was a significant step taken on behalf of the country.

He mentioned that the collaboration will provide support for the activities in the fields of science and technology carried out by universities operating in the TRNC.

Çavuşoğlu also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the preparation of the protocol and to the Eastern Mediterranean University’s Office of International Cooperation for their support.

Ömer Cihan, the Coordinator of the Development and Economic Cooperation Office of the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa, stated that this protocol, signed, is a significant step for the development of the TRNC and expressed hope for its success for both countries.

According to information provided by the Ministry, the protocol aims to promote and support collaboration in the field of science and technology, in compliance with the current laws and regulations of both countries.

The protocol is aimed at promoting cooperation in natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical and health sciences, agricultural sciences, veterinary medicine, as well as social and human sciences. It will enable scientists in the TRNC to apply for TÜBİTAK programs and benefit from their evaluation and monitoring systems.

Details about applications and evaluation processes will be determined and announced by a joint committee established by the Ministry of National Education and TÜBİTAK.
