Election bans begin as of Friday

The countdown for upcoming by-elections started on Friday with the coming into force of the election bans.

According to the election calendar announced by the Supreme Electoral Council, the last day for political parties to nominate their candidates is Monday, May 29, while the deadline for candidate applications is May 31.

The Supreme Electoral Council will announce candidates of political parties as provisional candidates on June 1, and the finalized candidates will be announced on June 4.

The candidates will be able to start campaigning on June 5.

Political parties will have to submit a petition on June 6 to the Supreme Electoral Council in order to conduct propaganda on Bayrak Radio Television (BRT).

The deadline for the election campaign is June 24, and voters will head to the polls on Sunday, June 25.
