The head of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council Ahmet Savaşan participated in panel discussions titled “The Road to Positive Tourism with Destination Leaders” organized within the scope of the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair -EMİTT.
In his speech, Savaşan drew attention to the importance of health tourism and emphasized that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is rapidly progressing towards becoming an important center that stands out in health tourism.
The Head of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council Ahmet Savaşan spoke at the “The Road to Positive Tourism with Destination Leaders” panel organized within the scope of EMITT.
Speaking at the fair, where 579 companies and 666 VIP tour operators from approximately 80 countries took part, Savaşan stated that the “TRNC is rapidly progressing towards becoming a prominent center in health tourism”.
Explaining that the pandemic has caused changes in the tourism sector, Savaşan said that “the TRNC has managed to be one of the rare countries in the world that managed the pandemic best and managed to protect the health of its people with a mortality rate of 6.8 and this success has also increased the attractiveness of Northern Cyprus in health tourism.”
Stating that the TRNC has become an important “health tourism” destination, Savaşan said that detox and healthy nutrition programs, yoga and meditation camps, fitness and stress management programs have been successfully implemented within the scope of health protection and promotion; and that health services are provided in areas such as physical therapy, rehabilitation, reproductive medicine, plastic surgery, dental, cardiology and oncology at the point of restoring health.
In this direction, Savaşan stated that with the support of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu, strategic investments continue and sustainable strategies are created in cooperation with the state, private sector and academic circles.
Stating that a “Master Plan” study is underway to manage health tourism more systematically, Savaşan said that intensive efforts are being made to make the TRNC an international brand in this field.
