EMU holds ceremony for 2023-24 Fall Semester graduates

The Eastern Mediterranean University’s 2023-2024 Academic Year Fall Semester Graduation Ceremony was held at the Lala Mustafa Pasha Sports Hall on Wednesday.

A total of 1,025 young individuals graduated from the university.

The ceremony began with the delivery of speeches by students in Turkish and English on behalf of the 2023-2024 Academic Year Fall Semester Graduates.

After a symbolic tree planting ceremony, opening speeches were delivered by the Rector of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Eastern Mediterranean University Foundation Erdal Özcenk, and the President of the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), Turgay Avcı.

In the speeches, it was emphasized that the graduates, as ambassadors, will disperse around the world, becoming honorary representatives of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the university.

The Minister of National Education, Nazım Çavuşoğlu, also attended the ceremony and congratulated the graduates, saying, “The world will be a better place with you.”

Zorlu Töre, the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly, who also addressed the students touched upon the ongoing tragedy in Palestine, condemning the genocide.

President Ersin Tatar who also attended the ceremony highlighted the international importance of the Eastern Mediterranean University as an educational institution in the country.

Tatar emphasized that there are students from 120 different countries enrolled at EMU and congratulated the young graduates and their families, reminding them not to forget the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

After the presentation of diplomas, the ceremony concluded with the tossing of caps
