Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan criticized Western countries for their stance against the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and other nations that are striving to attain the recognition they deserve on the world stage.

Pointing out that the British were trying to obstruct Türkiye and the Turkish side in Cyprus, Erdoğan said, “We discussed this issue with Mr. Putin as well. Russia’s stance on opening an office in Cyprus, developments related to Cyprus, and the current developments regarding the grain corridor all contribute to Türkiye’s influence in the region being felt in every way.”

Turkish President Erdoğan, during his return from a day-long working visit to Russia, where he responded to journalists’ questions on board the plane, commented on the stance of Western countries in world politics.

In response to a question about the stance of Western countries, Erdoğan criticized Western countries and specifically pointed out that the British were trying to obstruct Türkiye and the Turkish side in Cyprus.

“We discussed this issue with Mr. Putin. Russia’s stance on opening an office in Cyprus, developments related to Cyprus, and the current developments regarding the grain corridor all contribute to Türkiye’s influence in the region being felt in every way” he said.

The Turkish President also highlighted Türkiye’s increasing influence in the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Referring to their successes in energy diplomacy, Erdoğan said that without Türkiye, no steps can be taken in the Eastern Mediterranean.
