Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed his belief that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will take its place at the next Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) summit as an observer member.

Erdoğan’s words came in his address at the 10thSummit of the heads of states of the Organisation of Turkic States in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana.

Leaders of member and observer countries of the Turkic States Organization gathered in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana.

Erdoğan pointed out that the Turkish Cypriots are an integral part of the Turkic world and expressed his belief that in the subsequent summit of the Turkic States Organization, they would see the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an observer member, as decided.

He said, “I trust your resolute leadership on this matter.”

Erdoğan also reminded that the Organisation had made a historic decision by unanimously granting observer member status to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“I thank you once again for the support you provided in making this decision. With this decision, the Turkic world showed everyone that the Turkish Cypriots, who have not given up their sovereignty despite being isolated, are not alone. Acting in solidarity with the Turkish Cypriots, who are an inseparable part of the great Turkic family, is our collective responsibility. I believe that in the upcoming summit, we will see the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an observer member as we have decided and I trust your resolute leadership in this matter,” he said.
