Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday arrived in Azerbaijan after his visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as part of his first foreign tour after the May 28 re-election.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday welcomed Erdoğan with an official ceremony in the capital Baku.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was greeted at the Haydar Aliyev International Airport by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Azeri Foreign Minister Halef Halefov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Ankara Reshad Memmedov and Ankara’s Ambassador to Baku Cahit Bağcı.
Erdoğan, accompanied by first lady Emine Erdoğan and a delegation of his Cabinet ministers, attended a banquet hosted by Aliyev on Monday evening, after he arrived in the country from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), his first stopover abroad.
Azerbaijan and the TRNC are the closest allies of Türkiye.
This morning, the Turkish president was greeted with an official ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the two leaders held a face-to-face meeting during which they discussed steps to further advance bilateral relations and cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan and exchange views on regional and international developments.
The leaders also held a joint news conference.
