Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that it is not possible to reach a solution in Cyprus by ignoring the rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its sovereign equality.

Erdoğan touched upon the Cyprus issue in his speech at an İftar dinner on Tuesday.

Stating that they hope that the recent atmosphere in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean with Greece will yield concrete results, Erdoğan underlined that it is not possible to reach a solution by ignoring the rights and interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and its sovereign equality.

He also said that Türkiye’s membership to the European Union remains a strategic goal.
