Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who paid his first official foreign visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Monday, after being re-elected as the President, also held talks in Azerbaijan on Tuesday.

“We are ready to open our Consulate General in Shusha whenever you desire. If our Consulate General in Shusha can be opened, it will send a separate message to the whole world, including Armenia” Erdoğan said.

After his first foreign visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus following his re-election as President, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan travelled to Azerbaijan on Monday night.

President Erdoğan, who started his contacts in Azerbaijan on Tuesday morning, was officially welcomed by the President of Azerbaijan İlham Aliyev at the Youth Palace in the capital city of Baku.

Following the official welcoming ceremony, Erdoğan and Aliyev held a bilateral meeting.

After the meeting, the leaders also participated in an inter-delegation meeting.

Before the inter-delegation meeting held at the Youth Palace, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his gratitude to President Aliyev for their hospitality, mentioning that after being re-elected as President with the support of the nation, they first visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and then Baku.

Stressing that the Türkiye-Azerbaijan brotherhood was admired and followed with envy around the world, Erdoğan recalled the recent example of this in the earthquake disaster that occurred in Türkiye.

The Turkish President also stressed their determination to develop the relations, elevated to the level of alliance with the Shusha Declaration, in all areas.

“We are ready to open our Consulate General in Shusha whenever you want. If our Consulate General can be established in Shusha, it will send a separate message to the whole world, especially to Armenia” Erdoğan said.
