The leader of the Rebirth Party (YDP) Erhan Arıklı, who also currently serves as the Minister of Public Works and Transportation was re-elected as the party’s leader at his party’s 4th Ordinary Congress.

Arıklı defeated his rival Talip Atalay by receiving 1956 of the 3,123 thousand votes cast at the congress.

Delivering a short speech after his re-election, Erhan Arıklı congratulated all party members for holding a congress that was fit for the YDP.

He said that there were no winners or losers, only the YDP as the winner.

Noting that the congress hailed a new era within the Rebirth Party, Arıklı drew attention to the experience they gained as a party during the process leading to the elections.

Emphasizing that the YDP will act in unity and solidarity, Arıklı reminded that the party will become even more stronger once it merges with the Nation’s Party on May 5.

Meanwhile President Ersin Tatar congratulated Erhan Arıklı on Sunday following his election victory.

Speaking with him over the phone, Tatar said, “It is my greatest wish that YDP will continue to contribute to the development of the country and the welfare and happiness of our people”.
