The leader of the Republican Turkish Party Tufan Erhürman said that unless the UN resolutions are changed, the negotiation table cannot be established on any other ground.

Erhürman also emphasized that he did not have high expectations from the informal meeting to be held on Cyprus in mid-October.

Speaking about the upcoming informal meeting on Cyprus, scheduled for mid-October, Erhürman expressed low expectations for any substantial progress.

While he acknowledged that dialogue is always positive, he was not hopeful for major developments during the informal talks.

“Dialogue is always good, any kind of dialog is positive, but I do not have high expectations.”

Reflecting on his recent visit to New York, where he participated in several meetings, including with the Socialist International, Erhürman described the discussions as productive.

He explained that he outlined his views on how any future negotiation process for Cyprus should be approached.

Erhürman reiterated that the framework for official negotiations is clear: a bi-communal, bi-zonal federation based on political equality, which he said is a “mathematical certainty.”
