The leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman has accused Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides of trying to harm the Turkish Cypriot economy.

He said that these attempts by the Greek Cypriot leader will not be ignored.

In a post on social media, the leader of the main opposition Tufan Erhürman wrote, “They continue to offer the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides the opportunity to use the instrument of his choice in an unrestrained manner”.

He said that Christodoulides on the one hand, was claiming he was ready to negotiate on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions while on the other was looking for ways to hurt the TRNC economy by using all the instruments at his disposal.

Erhürman said that the Greek Cypriot leader had now turned his attention to the tourism sector after attempting to deal blows to the property and university sectors in the TRNC.

“Let it be known that we will not accept these attempts, which damage the relations and trust between the two sides,” he added.
