Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu stated that the international system is undergoing a great change and transformation and that they are in cooperation with both global and regional actors.
Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu touched upon the latest developments on the Cyprus problem at the beginning of the plenary session of Parliament where the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was being discussed.
Stating that they endeavored to take steps against all kinds of propaganda and activities carried out by the Greek Cypriot administration against the country, Ertuğruloğlu reminded that the new state policy determined in the light of the current realities was announced to the world.
Noting that cooperation in certain areas can be negotiated, Ertuğruloğlu also pointed to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s calls for the recognition of the TRNC.
“We are at a time when new balances are being determined in inter-state relations,” Ertuğruloğlu said, adding that the Greek Cypriot leadership is trying to develop cooperation with both global and regional actors, especially in the military field, during this period of rapid change.
Ertuğruloğlu said, “Our Greek Cypriot neighbours, who confuse being a figurehead with being an actor, is doomed to end in frustration. Undoubtedly, the only power in the region, whose global influence is increasing day by day, is Motherland Türkiye and no power will be able to ignore the presence and rights of Motherland Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people in the Eastern Mediterranean region.”
“As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we emphasize to our interlocutors at every opportunity that the only way to ensure peace and security on the island is through equal treatment of the parties,” said Ertuğruloğlu.
