Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu received a delegation headed by the President of the Türkiye Retired Non-Commissioned Officers Association Bursa Provincial Branch, Hakkı Şinasi Doğaç along with the President of the Security Forces Command Retired Officers Association, Esen Ömürlü.

Speaking during the visit, Minister Ertuğruloğlu discussed the failed experiment of power-sharing with the Greek Cypriots in 1960, stressing that negotiations cannot yield results unless both sides are treated equally, which has not been the case for years.

Providing information about the ongoing process, he reminded that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has adopted a policy of seeking the affirmation of equal sovereignty and equal international status as two independent states with the support of Türkiye.

“We have embarked on this path with the awareness of the discrimination deliberately applied to us by the world. We have a policy in place to stand firmly against this discrimination” Ertuğruloğlu said.

Pointing out that the Cyprus issue was the cause of the Turkish nation, the Foreign Minister said, “We are together on this path. We will continue this struggle with determination, persistence, and belief. This is not a personal matter for us; it is a matter of the Turkish nation. There is no world where the interests of the Turkish nation are different from those of the Turkish Cypriots; our interests are the same.”
