Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stressed that the Turkic world will continue to stand by the Turkish Cypriot people as a whole.
In a joint press conference with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, Fidan responded to questions, stating, “No matter what the Greek Cypriots and the European Union say, the exhausted federation model has been removed from the table. This model was also eliminated by the Greek Cypriots.”
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.
A joint press conference was held after the meeting,
When asked about the recent steps taken by Central Asian countries in the context of Cyprus, Fidan stated that the capacity development, work, and progress of Central Asian countries had attracted the attention of global actors and the European Union.
He mentioned that this was “an understandable situation” for them, but noted that this mutual interest was being exploited by the EU.
Fidan stressed that they were closely following developments in all their aspects and that they would continue to act in line with the ideal of the Turkic world.
Stating that they would continue to act with common sense and address all issues within the family council, Turkish Foreign Minister said, “Our position on this matter is clear. The Turkish Cypriots are an integral and inseparable part of the great Turkic world family. This truth will never change. The Turkic world, as a whole, will continue to stand by the Turkish Cypriots. We will continue our policies in this regard with patience.”

Fidan also addressed the recent claims made by some circles regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), stating that the sensitivity of Turkish President Erdoğan and the ongoing efforts in this regard were evident.
“The efforts and work we have undertaken with the TRNC are clear. But despite all this, trying to create a non-existent problem and presenting it as if there is an issue actually shows how desperate and in a deadlock these focal points are” he said.
Pointing out that there is a frozen issue on the island, with both sides continuing to live under their own administrations within their respective borders, Fidan stated that the mutual isolation imposed by both sides was beginning to affect the overall prosperity of the island.
He also stressed that they shared the vision of the United Nations in increasing the spirit of cooperation on the island.
“No matter what the Greeks Cypriots and the European Union say, the exhausted federation model has already been removed from the table. As you know, this model was eliminated by the Greek Cypriots. But a negotiation process, a solution process, or an agreement process that aims at further isolation of the Turkish Cypriots and forces them into more impossible situations is an approach that we will never accept. Of course, we respect the will of the Turkish Cypriots. Their choices and preferences are clear. But as a guarantor country and as the motherland, we always present our views and stance with great clarity. We are very clear on this matter” Fidan added.
